FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do students have to be Seventh-day Adventist in order to attend San Diego Academy?
Our school wholeheartedly welcomes families and students of all faiths and backgrounds. As a Christian school, all of our students attend chapel services and bible classes which are taught from a biblical Seventh-day Adventist perspective.
Does San Diego Academy prepare students to study at prestigious universities?
With our WASC and University of California A-G approval, our curriculum is certified for all U.S. universities.  Entrance into those universities will largely depend on the student's GPA and standardized test scores.  Our students regularly score above the national average and we have had students attend various universities around the country including UC Berkeley, SDSU, La Sierra University, and Walla Walla University.
How do you ensure student safety during school hours?
San Diego Academy operates with a closed campus, which means the entire campus is gated and locked during school hours. All visitors must come through the front office and receive a visitor's pass to enter our campus. Another security feature comes from our small school size. We recognize parents and others associated with the school on sight, and we immediately approach visitors to ask how we can help them.
What is your average class size?
San Diego Academy has an intimate family environment with relatively small class sizes. Our classes range in size from about 10 students in Kindergarten to approximately 25 students in the largest class. Most of our elementary classes have fewer than 20 students.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes, San Diego Academy offers financial assistance to families who qualify. Please Contact Us for more information.
Do you offer Before and After school care?
Yes! We offer both Before and After school care Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM (see our Admissions Page for pricing). This is available for students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade. Students can work on homework, create artwork, play sports, or hang out with their friends. You can use this service as needed and without a reservation.
How can I get an official copy of my transcripts?
San Diego Academy can send official transcripts to other institutions upon request for a $5 fee (you can pay in person or online via our Adventist School Pay link). To process your request, email the School Registrar at registrar@sdacademy.com with your proof of payment.

Please note that official transcripts cannot be issued directly to students/alumni.
How are you addressing social distancing for COVID-19?
We are moving the desks to maximize social distancing in the classroom and have policies in place to maintain appropriate distancing. You can learn more about our plans on our COVID-19 Page.
