STUDENT ASSOCIATION (SA)

The San Diego Academy high school Student Association elects officers once each year. The officers plan activities and programs for the student body including Spirit Week, banquets, field days, chapel programs, and community service days. Students who wish to invite outside guests to the SA banquets need to petition the faculty prior to the event.

CLASS ORGANIZATIONS

Each class (7-12) chooses class officers who coordinate planning for class activities. This experience helps to develop leadership skills in students.

STUDENT OFFICE GUIDELINES

In order for a student to run for and hold a student office:

   1.   The student must have attended San Diego Academy during the previous semester.

   2.   The student must not be on Scholastic Probation. (See Grading: Academic Probation.)

   3.   The student must maintain an attendance grade of C or better. (See Attendance: Activity Participation.)

   4.   The student must maintain satisfactory citizenship. (See Discipline: Suspension.)

   5.   The student may not hold two major offices simultaneously. Major offices are SA President, Senior Class President, Junior Class President, and Yearbook Editor.

VARSITY AND JUNIOR VARSITY

San Diego Academy has boys’ and girls’ varsity teams which play other schools in the spirit of Christian recreation and fellowship. Varsity teams operate under the guidelines of the Conference Sports Commission and the California Interscholastic Federation.

Academic credit for varsity sports is awarded as Pass/Fail, and does not affect GPA. Each sport is equal to 2.5 semester periods of Physical Education credit. A nonrefundable varsity fee will be charged to each student’s account for each sport played. This fee will vary based upon the sport.  Varsity members must meet certain academic and attendance standards to be eligible to participate in games.

Academic Standards:  For each sport  played, the student must complete the Varsity Eligibility Verification Form each Monday for the duration of the sport. Any student who earns an F or 2 D’s or has a GPA below 2.0 shall be placed on academic probation and shall be excluded from game participation. As soon as eligibility is confirmed, the student may resume participation.

Attendance Standards:  Any student participating in varsity sports must maintain an attendance grade of C or better (see Attendance Grading System). In order to be eligible for game participation, a student’s attendance grade in the previous quarter must be C or better. This includes the fourth quarter attendance grade for  returning students. For incoming freshmen and new students, this policy begins on the first day of attendance at San Diego Academy. A student must be in good standing at the start of the sport and must maintain good standing throughout the season to remain eligible.
