Online magazine database subscription

The academy has subscribed to Wilson Web Triple Play, an online service which provides the opportunity to search and read full-text articles from over 200 different magazines. This is an added resource for class assignments--or just to "be informed" about what's happening in our world. The databases contain articles published since 1994.

The service may be accessed from school or home. See Online Magazine Articles located on the School Links page.

Automated parent communication system installed An automated message system has been installed to communicate with parents by phone and email. The system will be used primarily for emergencies and special events. Watch for more information about the system and a notice about the test run.

Quick library book check out The final phase of setting up the automated library catalog is being completed this summer. There are several advantages that will be realized with the automation. Most important, students now have the ability to search for books about various topics more quickly and easily by using the computerized search option. Checking out books will be faster, easier, and more accurate with the use of a scanning system.

The automated catalog became necessary after moving to the new school facility when our card catalog became obsolete. Because of space issues in our new school facility, many of our former holdings were donated to another school which had a basically "non-existent" library. The books donated were volumes which had not been checked out from our library in many years, but they were welcomed by the other school.

Anyone wishing to donate funds to support the addition of current, up-to-date volumes may send a tax-deductible gift marked "library books" to San Diego Academy, 2800 E 4th St, National City, CA 91950.
